Always Remember to Smile

“If you could do something that would make people happy, and it would cost you neither money nor time, would you do it? If that same thing also made you happy, would you?”

When I first read this I was intrigued as to what this could be. What’s something that we can do that costs nothing, that makes you happy, and that makes other people happy.

A smile.

Aha a smile. This magical thing that will brighten your day and the days of people around you and yet it sometimes is the hardest thing to do. It’s free, so why don’t we just hand them out like candy on Halloween? It makes you feel good, but how come less and less people aren't making it part of their daily to smile more?

This brings us to the point where we need to ask ourselves - is it really that hard to bring out that childlike self in yourself. Break through those walls of boredom, by simply just letting go of judgments and boundaries. Is it really that straightforward that this simple-minded happiness we've been looking for has been right under our noses all this time? And quite literally right below our noses.

The value of a smile or that laugh which infuses a burst of energy is hard to comprehend, but it’s definitely a priceless possession that can never truly be taken away. It’s revered as a token of good times to come. A mark of goodness from which hope and faith springs forth. It can even be called the miracle that everyone has been looking for.

So why not just smile! Smile because you’re happy. Smile because you feel like it. Because life is so good. Feeling down? Smile! When all else fails, smile. You can never underestimate the importance of having a person in your life that can always make you smile. Be that person. Change someone’s day because you were the one who smiled first. Sooner than later you’ll start to see more and more smiles around you. There’s always a reason to smile, you just have to go out and find it.
