SERVICE TRIP COST + COMMUNITY CONTRIBUTION FEE (CCF) EXPLAINED
2025 UPDATED PAYMENT POLICY FOR SUMMER SERVICE TRIPS
More Affordable Deposit – We have lowered the trip deposit to $150 to secure your spot on a trip. The trip deposit is non-refundable should you choose to cancel your service trip.
Refund Guarantee – Should you choose to cancel participation by January 10, 2025 we will happily refund the trip payments you have made, including the $150 deposit. Any donations or payments made towards the Community Contribution Fee (CCF) can not be refunded.
In the event that BLUE Missions cancels the service trip, all payments made toward service trip cost minus the $150 deposit will be refunded. Volunteers can also choose to postpone to a future trip. Any donations or payments made towards the Community Contribution Fee (CCF) can not be refunded.
Flexibility – In the event that you choose to cancel participation by February 1, 2025 all payments made towards the service trip cost except the $150 will be eligible for a refund. Any donations or payments made towards the Community Contribution Fee (CCF) can not be refunded. If you choose to cancel after February 1st, only a portion of the trip cost can be rolled over to a future trip in 2026. If you need to cancel participation prior to your trip for whatever reason, please notify us immediately.
Any volunteer who cancels after February 1, 2025 will not have the option of receiving a refund regardless of the reason for cancellation. We will only be postponing partial payments towards a trip in 2026.
*Payment Policy above only applies to new 2025 volunteers. Any volunteers who postponed in 2024 or prior are not eligible for any refunds towards payments made. There is an option to transfer payments to a family member or friend to use towards a trip in 2025.
BLUE Missions is a nonprofit organization committed to ending the water and sanitation crisis in our lifetime. 100% of our public donations go directly to funding projects, so our trips help us cover the overhead expenses that come with making this whole operation go. Around 75% of the trip cost goes into putting on the experience for our volunteers, while the remainder helps us cover operational expenses and administration.
A BLUE Missions Service Trip costs an average of $1,350* per participant plus a Community Contribution Fee of $750 (water projects) or $500 (sanitation or filter projects). This trip cost includes round-trip flight from Miami to the Dominican Republic, travel insurance, food, transportation, and accommodations.
*Service trip cost may vary for custom service trips and whether or not the participant is financing their trip.
SERVICE TRIP COST PAYMENT PLAN
We understand that paying all at once can become expensive and burdensome for our volunteers. As a result, we allow our volunteers to enroll in a customized payment plan to pay for their trip over time. If you apply when applications first open, you can take advantage of our payment plan to pay as low as $200/month and can help you spread out the cost of your trip.
In order to reserve your spot on a BLUE Missions trip, you must pay the $150 deposit. This deposit goes towards your overall trip cost and is nonrefundable.
COMMUNITY CONTRIBUTION FEE
make AN IMPACT.
Apart from traveling abroad to work on the construction of our water and sanitation projects, BLUE volunteers also fund our projects through their fundraising efforts known as - The Community Contribution Fee (CCF). Separate from the trip cost, this fee helps us buy materials, and hire workers in the field in order to construct the gravity-driven aqueducts and pit latrines volunteers help build for our benefiting communities.
Volunteers are encouraged to fundraise their entire CCF on our custom fundraising platform. Even if you have the financial means to pay the fee out-of-pocket, we want to challenge you to raise the funds instead. Gaining support from others for something you’re passionate about is a skill that everyone can benefit from learning. Besides that, by asking others to support your fundraiser, you are teaching more people about the water and sanitation crisis and inviting them to get involved. You can do it!
IMPORTANT NOTES ABOUT THE CCF
The CCF on a Water Project is $750, and $500 on a Sanitation or Filter Project. The difference in the fee is due to the cost difference in executing the two projects.
Because of our Be Bold Model, if you exceed your fundraising goal it cannot be transferred to cover your trip cost. In addition, we can not issue any refunds for donations or payments made towards CCF.
If you do not raise the full CCF amount before the deadline, your credit card on file will be charged the remaining balance.
